“A new commissioner for digitization was appointed, who became Lukáš Klučka, and the government took note of Robert Králíček’s resignation,” announced 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček (ANO) after Monday’s government meeting.
Klučka has repeatedly worked in the state sector in the past, between 2014 and 2020 he was head of department and deputy director of the project management department at the Ministry of the Interior. He then held the position of director of the Department of Subsidies and Defense Organizations and was also Deputy Minister of Defense for several months when the office was headed by Lubomír Metnar in the previous government of Andrej Babiš (ANO).
At the end of last year, he chose Klučka as his first deputy at the Ministry of the Interior even during his current tenure in office. In this department, according to his earlier words, Klučka was supposed to focus primarily on digitization.
According to constitutional law expert Jan Kysela, appointment as a government representative should not be an obstacle for Kuček’s continuation in the position of deputy minister.
Klučka also worked for the audit and consulting company Ernst & Young for the last three years, as a manager of digital transformation and technological innovation and a leader for security, internal affairs and defense.
Králíček replaced Králíček in the government plenipotentiary chair, who announced his end on Friday last week in this position, in which he had been working since January 12, when Babiš’s government created it.
“I have decided to leave the position of government commissioner for digitization and strategic security. I have been working in both areas for a long time, but the breadth of my agenda does not allow me to combine everything with the work of a deputy and vice-chairman of the parliamentary club of the ANO movement. I will continue to devote myself fully to both topics in the Chamber of Deputies. However, since I am a person who cannot do the job by half, I have decided to continue only in the role of a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic,” said Králíček.
