The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) will turn to the Constitutional Court today also regarding the constitution of the Kurti IV Government, a day after it contested the constitution process of the Kosovo Assembly in this institution.
The chairman of the Parliamentary Group of PDK, Arian Tahiri, and deputy Përparim Gruda will hold a press conference in front of the Constitutional Court building at 09:00.
The PDK is expected to request an evaluation of the constitutionality of the process through which the Kurti IV Government was constituted, which was voted after the process of constituting the Assembly was completed.
This action comes a day after the PDK turned to the Constitutional Court to dispute the way the new legislature was constituted.
The Assembly was considered constituted even though not all five vice-presidents had been elected. PDK’s candidate for this position, Vlora Çitaku, did not receive the necessary votes to be elected.
The PDK had initially temporarily withdrawn the candidacy of Çitak, while then objected to the end of the constitutive session without electing all the vice-presidents.
On Monday, after submitting the case to the Constitutional Court, Arian Tahiri stated that the PDK is asking this institution to assess the constitutionality of the process of constitution of the Assembly.
The PDK has also asked the Constitutional Court to assign a temporary measure, on the grounds that further legal and institutional consequences must be prevented.
Today’s contestation of the Kurti IV Government is directly related to the issue of the constitution of the Assembly, since the new executive was voted by the Assembly after the end of this process.
