The fraudster contacted the senior woman several times by phone and told her that she had a profit of 350,000 crowns in cryptocurrencies from the previous investment activity she had carried out in the past.
“He convinced the woman to log in to her internet banking and expect payment of the said amount. The perpetrator of course got into her account in a cunning way and made four payments from it to other people’s accounts without her consent and knowledge,” said police spokeswoman Miluše Zajícová.
The swindler subsequently told the senior woman that the money, a total of over 150,000 crowns, sent from her account, would be returned together with the profit from the investment. “Nothing happened. The victim eventually realized that she was a victim of fraud and reported the case,” added the police spokeswoman.
