In The Hague, on the eve of the announcement of the verdict for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the deputy of PDK, Blerta Deliu-Kodra, expressed the belief that the judicial process will end with a decision in favor of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selim and Jakup Krasniqi.
“I hope that it will be among the last gatherings that we as Albanians hold here in The Hague, because this has been a very long process. It has been a difficult process not only for the Albanians, but also for the families of the former leaders of the KLA. We expect that justice will prevail tomorrow and the verdict will be the victory of the Albanian people and the just war of the KLA”, she said.
Deliu-Kodra described the process as extremely difficult and with great consequences for the former leaders of the KLA and their families. She said she believes in justice and argued that the KLA waged a defensive war for the freedom of Kosovo.
“I am convinced of the triumph of Kosovo’s justice. The process was extremely difficult, with a very heavy weight for those who still had the burden of the KLA. The KLA did not commit massacres and genocide. We did not go to Belgrade to attack, but we fought a defensive war for our people and to win freedom,” said the deputy.
The PDK MP also appreciated the support given by Albania during the process, singling out the positions of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“I cannot deny the support given by the Prime Minister of Albania, because Kosovo has needed a strong voice and Prime Minister Rama has proven it wherever he has had the opportunity to appear, in support of the KLA war. Serbia’s battle has been multidimensional to overthrow our right, but what Albanian diplomacy and our partners and allies have done has played an extraordinary role in our battle for justice,” she said.
The judgment against the former leaders of the KLA is expected to be announced on September 16 at the Special Court in The Hague. According to Deliu-Kodra, the decision will also be important for the future of Kosovo.
“Tomorrow’s decision has weight not only for the past, but also for determining the future of an entire people. I hope that tomorrow this severe suffering of the former leaders of the KLA will end and I believe that tomorrow we will all return to Kosovo together”, she said.
