The Ibri bridge in Mitrovica seems to be bringing back the clashes between Pristina and Belgrade, while the situation in the north remains tense.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić warned that he will send an official letter to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Vucic demanded that the bridge not be opened to vehicles and directed harsh accusations at the Turkish KFOR commander, General Özkan Ulutaş.
“This is what the Turk, the commander of KFOR, is doing. Today I will write to Mark Ruta and I hope he will answer my letter and accept my request that this not be done. For me, this is a great shame and a disappointment. This shows us that nervousness has entered their ranks, they do not know how to force Serbia to accept an independent Kosovo. We will see how to help our people. Slowly, things are change in the world, but not as quickly as we expected – said the Serbian president, among other things.
Vucic’s comments come after the European Union confirmed that the conditions for the circulation of cars have already been met.
This bridge, which separates the city of Mitrovica, has for years served only for pedestrians.
The issue of vehicle traffic has long been one of the main sources of tension in the area, while the Kurti government has given special importance to security in the north of the country.
