Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed an important cooperation agreement yesterday aimed at strengthening reforms and sustainable development in Southeast Europe.
The document was signed by Amer Kapetanovic, Secretary General of RCC, and Ivana Zhivkovic, UN Assistant General Assistant and Director of UNDP Regional Office for Europe and CIS.
This new partnership will support the implementation of regional frameworks such as the RCC Labor Strategy and Program 2026-2028, the SEE2030 strategy, the Action Plan for the common regional market, as well as the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. The goal is to increase the impact, the avoidance of overlays and the creation of a more integrated region.
“This agreement helps us to move faster for what matters to people-better services, greener growth, stronger institutions and a more sustainable region-approximating RCC regional platforms with expertise and extension of UNDP,Kapetanovic said.
Under the agreement, RCC and UNDP will develop regular coordinates, annual progress reviews and joint work mechanisms for implementation. The signature took place as part of the US Secretary General’s visit to the US during the UN General Assembly, and comes shortly after the Ministerial Meeting of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative, preceding the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP).
