Albania has signed an energy agreement with the United States of America and Greece, worth 6 billion dollars, which aims to strengthen energy and national security in the region.
The ceremony took place in Tirana, where Prime Minister Edi Rama received the US ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, who described this commitment as a big step for the stability and prosperity of the region.
In a post on the “X” platform, Guilfoyle underlined that the cooperation between the USA, Albania and Greece makes the region more connected, safer and more prosperous.
“I was honored to travel to Tirana to advance the US President’s energy agenda and join Prime Minister Edi Rama at the signing ceremony of a historic agreement between Venture Global, Actor LNG and Albania for a 20-year liquefied natural gas agreement. This $6 billion commitment strengthens energy security and national security across the region. When the United States, Albania and Greece work together, this region becomes more connected, safer and more prosperous.”
The US chargé d’affaires in Tirana, Nancy van Horn, was also present at the meeting.
The signed agreement represents a strategic energy project, which is expected to have a significant impact on increasing the energy security of Albania and the region, further strengthening the partnership between Tirana and Washington.
