The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bedri Hamza, says that the Vetëvendosje Movement has not shown the will to resolve the issue of the president, despite the fact that, according to him, his party has given support to a consensual candidate without being involved in governance.
“For the Democratic Party, institutional stability has been a primary issue and state interest and not an object of negotiation for political bargains. Despite this constructive approach, the lack of political will and institutional seriousness on the part of the current government is making it impossible again to elect a new president. Consequently, PDK considers its contribution to this process complete,” said Bedri Hamza, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo.
Hamza also published the last offer made to him by Kurti, which, according to him, included an agreement for the position of the Speaker of the Assembly, describing it as frivolous and unconstitutional.
“The offer is this: for PDK MPs to stay in the hall and vote and as a result, PDK is offered the position of Speaker of the Assembly, with a change that the position of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, which is currently held by PDK, will be transferred to Vetëvendosje,” he said.
On Monday, Prime Minister Kurti announced that regarding the issue of the president, he also contacted the head of the PDK, Bedri Hamza, but according to him, the proposal for co-governance was exclusive only to the LDK. After the meeting the day before, the head of this party rejected the offer for co-governance presented to him by Kurti. Abdixhiku said that he was offered four ministers and the post of deputy prime minister, and then changing these positions with that of the Speaker of the Assembly. As the deadline set by the Constitutional Court for the election of the president ends on April 28, Kosovo seems to be heading for new parliamentary elections.
