“Painful and distressing.” Hamas confirmed the death of its leader Sinvár

“He came to his end bravely, with his head held high, holding a firearm, shooting until the last breath, until the last moment of his life,” Al Jazeera, a Qatari station, quoted from Hajj’s statement.

The Israeli army has already shown a video that is supposed to show the last moments of Sinvár’s life, when he tries to drive away an Israeli drone with a thrown stick.

Hajja described the terrorist Sinvár as “brave and fearless”, saying that he “sacrificed his life for the cause of our liberation”. At the same time, he announced that the hostages taken to the Gaza Strip will not return until Israel stops its retaliatory operation after the terrorist attacks by Hamas and withdraws from the Palestinian enclave.

“Israel seems to think that killing our leaders means the end of our movement and the struggle of the Palestinian people,” another Hamas official, Naim, said earlier. “Hamas is a movement led by people who strive for freedom and dignity, and that cannot be destroyed,” he added.

“Hamas has become stronger and more popular every time, and these leaders have become an icon for future generations who will continue the journey for a free Palestine,” he continued, referring to Hamas leaders who had already been eliminated by Israel.

For example, the killing of al-Qaeda leaders Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahirí or Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi at the head of the so-called Islamic State, however, meant a heavy blow for these terrorist networks from which they never fully recovered.

Naim went on to add that it is “painful and painful to lose loved ones, especially exceptional leaders,” but that Hamas is confident of ultimate victory. When asked whether his statement means confirmation of Sinvár’s death, he replied that it does not.

The former leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Sinvár, became the head of the entire organization in August after the then head of the movement, Ismáíl Hanija, died in a strike attributed to Israel on July 31 in Tehran, Iran. Sinvár was killed by Israeli soldiers on Wednesday in one of the houses in Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip. It happened by chance, the army had no information in advance that the head of Hamas was in the area.

His death was confirmed on Thursday evening by the Israeli army together with the Shin Bet secret service after analysis of DNA, fingerprints and images of teeth. Sinvár’s body was transported to a secret location in Israel after a nighttime autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Israeli news server Walla reported. According to him, the autopsy confirmed that Sinvár was killed by a shot to the head and by tank fire.

At the same time, during the current strikes in Lebanon, Israel also dealt heavy blows to the Shiite movement Hezbollah, when it eliminated a number of its leaders, including the long-time leader Hasan Nasrallah.
