Tirana Namazgah Mosque, the largest mosque in the Balkans, the construction of which was undertaken by Turkey in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and which was opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has made a century-old dream of Muslims in the country come true.
The opening of the mosque, which has been a century-old dream of Albanian Muslims, was held on October 10, within the scope of President Erdoğan’s official contacts in the country.
The opening of the Namazgah Mosque, which was held with the participation of thousands of people from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia and the Albanian diaspora, was recorded as a special and historical moment for Albanian Muslims.
During and after the opening ceremony, Namazgah Mosque was considered as a symbol of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity between the two countries and a respected place of worship for Albanian Muslims.
The Albanian people thank President Erdoğan and the Turkish people
Those who visited the Namazgah Mosque told the AA correspondent about their feelings and opinions about the mosque.
One of the visitors, Idlir Abazaj, noted that, as a believer, they had been waiting for the opening of the mosque for a long time, and said, “When I first entered and saw the mosque, I was extremely emotional. One of the dreams we have been dreaming of for years has come true. I watched it carefully and I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the construction of this mosque and took care of the smallest detail. Without them, this would not have happened.” “The mosque would not be built, so we thank President Erdoğan and the Turkish people.” he said.
Agim Çakmaşi also described the opening of the mosque as “the realization of the dream of Muslims”.
Explaining that they had to perform Eid prayers in the squares and that is why this mosque was a necessity, Çakmaşi said, “We thank the Turkish state and people for supporting the Albanians in every step. The Turks have always been a brotherly people who have supported us and continue to support us. We are grateful to them. I wish them well. I hope so.” he said.

Esma Kajtazaj also stated that, as Muslims, they feel very happy and joyful to have such a “magnificent mosque”.

Mimoza Anamali also stated that she was touched by the opening of the mosque and said that it was a “miracle” for them that they lived to see the opening.
Noting that he now performs his prayers in the new mosque, Ervin Daja said, “We have been waiting for the opening of this mosque for years because it was always noticed that Muslims pray in the squares and boulevards during holidays and that this mosque is very necessary. I believe that this is a very nice gift that the Turkish people have given to their Albanian Muslim brothers. I hope.” They are all rewarded for it.” made his assessment.
Daja emphasized that he found the mosque very beautiful and magnificent and said, “It gives great peace when you enter and pray.” he said.
Halit Moqi and Klementina Lila couple, who came to visit the mosque after their wedding, stated that they were happy to come to the newly opened mosque on such an emotional day.
Namazgah Mosque
Tirana Namazgah Mosque, which was opened on October 10 and is the largest mosque in the Balkans, was built with the support of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Turkish Religious Foundation (TDV).
The interior area of the mosque, which has a total area of over 10 thousand square meters, is 2 thousand 415 square meters, and 10 thousand people will be able to pray at the same time inside and outside the place of worship.
The details of the mosque, which has 4 minarets 56 meters high, a main dome 36 meters high and 18 small domes, are reminiscent of Ottoman architecture.
Located in the area close to the center of the capital Tirana, the mosque also includes conference halls, exhibition hall, classrooms, library, study areas, cultural center and different areas.
