According to three unnamed sources from the Israeli prime minister’s office, statesmen cannot agree on whether and how the conflict with Iran should continue, Axios reported. “Netanyahu was completely beside himself after the call,” one of the sources described the circumstances.
According to the website, the Israelis allegedly do not have much faith in diplomatic negotiations mediated by Pakistan and would prefer to continue striking Iranian military targets and key infrastructure. They want to force Tehran to stop producing ballistic missiles and give up uranium enrichment.
However, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said on Thursday, according to the Iran International website, that uranium must remain in Iran.
Trump himself announced that he was going to renew strikes on Iran on Tuesday, but Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates persuaded him to give Tehran another chance to come to an agreement, the CNN website recalled.
“We’re in the final stages of negotiations with Iran. We’ll see how that goes,” Trump said Wednesday of efforts to strike a deal. “Either we will come to an agreement, or we will take some steps that will be somewhat unpleasant. But let’s hope it won’t come to that,” he added, adding that the Israeli prime minister would act according to his demands.
