“Athletes’ Village”/Mediterranean Games also bring the expansion of the Student Center in Pristina, Kurti demands the rapid implementation of the project

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the presentation of the project for the renovation and expansion of the Student Center in Pristina, as part of the preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games.

The project, in cooperation with the French Development Agency, foresees the increase of capacities to 4500 beds, the renovation of the dormitories, the canteen and the “1 Tetori” gym, as well as the construction of new facilities and a semi-Olympic swimming pool.

During his speech, Acting Prime Minister Kurti emphasized the importance of this investment for students and the future of education in the country.

“I wish you much success. You will have us by your side, because our aim is to create conditions for both study and housing for our students. In the future, we will double the budget for scholarships and the number of scholarships for students. But we intend to use the Mediterranean Games 2030 to completely arrange the university campus with additional capacities, with modern equipment and also with suitable conditions for living there. And, I was happy when I saw the presentation of the project”, he said Kurt.

Furthermore, Kurti requested the rapid implementation of the project, stressing that the investments will remain at the service of students even after 2030.

“Now we have to implement it as soon as possible and in this case, in addition to the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Education and Science, I also thank the French Development Agency, which is helping us to prepare as best as possible for the year 2030, which in fact is no longer carried out in 2030, because all the facilities, the supporting infrastructure that will be built or renovated will remain for all our activities after the Games are over Mediterranean 2030”, Kurti added.

The Student Center is expected to be transformed into the “Athletes’ Village” during the Mediterranean Games, while afterwards it will remain a long-term investment in the service of students and higher education in Kosovo./KosovaPress/
