Moravec moderated this format on Czech Television (ČT) for over twenty years: “Believe that I will continue to defend free journalism based on facts, not on pseudo-balance or blind balance, which in my opinion dominates public service television. I will continue to defend democratic principles, human dignity and basic human rights,” says Moravec in the introductory video.
Poledne debates with Moravec start this Sunday. Foreign Minister Macinka will be the guest of the first part, former prime ministers Mirek Topolánek and Jiří Rusnok will be the guests of the second. At 12:00, traditionally every Sunday, ČT also continues to broadcast the debate.
Moravec also offers other programs on its website, whose content is paid for. For some, he has already published the first parts. Among them are debates called Generations, in which representatives of young people discuss, or 1:1 interviews, where the outgoing chief of the general staff, Karel Řehka, is the first guest.
In March, Moravec announced at the end of his program Otázky Václav Moravec that he was leaving CT after 21 years. He justified this by the fact that, under current conditions, he can no longer guarantee the independence of editorial work or critical reflection of events.
He also said then that he had faced pressure for several weeks before. The management of CT rejected the questioning of editorial independence and described the manner of his departure as unfortunate. According to Moravec, it was the least bad solution and for his farewell at the end of the program he chose a minimalistic version.
