The summit of the European Union and the Western Balkans will be held on June 5 in the city of Tivat, marking for the first time the organization of this high-level meeting in Montenegro and placing the region in the center of European attention.
In this context, the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, and the President of the European Council, António Costa, have launched a joint letter of invitation addressed to the leaders of the EU member states and the states of the Western Balkans, inviting them to participate in this strategic event.
Milatovic described the summit as a historical moment that confirms the role of Montenegro as a reliable partner and active actor in the European process, as well as a connecting bridge between the region and the European Union.
Summit program
June 4: Ceremonial dinner to mark the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the independence of Montenegro, in the spirit of European partnership and shared values.
June 5: Two main sessions: It will focus on the progress of the integration of the Western Balkans in the EU, the Growth Plan, the strengthening of regional stability, connectivity and sustainability.
It will address enlargement policy, key challenges and opportunities, and alignment with European policies and standards.
The summit will focus on shared prosperity and stability between the European Union and the Western Balkans, reflecting the renewed political momentum and strategic importance of enlargement for the future of the continent.
