Kosovo – Stalemate for the president, PDK accuses Kurti: Without an agreement, the country goes to elections

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has emphasized that it remains ready for cooperation in the process of electing the president, but without a political agreement and a serious approach, the country risks moving towards new elections.

The head of the PDK Parliamentary Group, Arian Tahiri, has stated that his party has been constructive throughout the process, while accusing Prime Minister Albin Kurti of lack of seriousness.

“The PDK has been constructive, but the other side does not have a serious approach”, he said, adding that this is “Kurti’s tactic to send the country to the elections”.

Tahiri also called the request for more votes for the election of the president as unnecessary.

“Continuation of telenovelas to distract attention and create unreasonable situations, but we know that consensus is reached with 80 votes”, he emphasized.

Meanwhile, MP Blerta Deliu-Kodra announced that PDK has not yet received an official invitation from the Vetëvendosje Movement for a meeting, demanding that any invitation be made formally. “Without an official invitation, there can be no institutional response”, she said.

She added that PDK will not propose names for president without a prior political agreement, stressing that the responsibility for electing the president remains with the government. According to her, if there is no political will, the country may face new elections
