Kosovo prepares for the October 12 local elections, journalist Podvorica: The political crisis continues to hinder

Kosovo is preparing to go to the local elections called by the country’s president, however, the deep political crisis that was born after the February 9 elections has increased difficulties.

Journalist Edona Podvorica in a live connection in the “Good Morning Albania” show stated that in such a situation of political and organizational uncertainty, Kosovo has many challenges to cope with election day.

According to her, it remains to be seen whether the deep political crisis will affect the process of local elections and how the challenges of organizing such a process in conditions of uncertainty will be faced.

She added that in the local elections, special importance to determine the victory will also have the Diaspora vote, the right of which will be exercised by about 44,000 voters.

The CEC has always organized not only local but also national elections. Because there is a difference in how important we see these choices. A well -organized process with very few flaws, P (excluding this situation is the February 9 elections, when there was a blockage of the server that incorporated data from the field.

However, during this time the CEC has done a great job in preparation in the local elections, recording voters from abroad that for all political parties are very important, especially for the LVV, which constantly has more proactive access to the diaspora. The Diaspora vote is in spirit to go to the LVV and the CEC has released the lists, over 2 million voters will have the right to vote in local elections, including 50,000 voters from outside Kosovo. Municipalities in the north of the country are also involved, after some processes for certification or non -certification of the Serbian List ”, the journalist stated.

After a few months of political stalemate, Kosovo managed to constitute only the Presidency of the Assembly, an unclear and complicated situation for such a long period.

It has been a saga that has happened since April, when we entered the formation phase of the Assembly of Kosovo, the 9th legislature. This is something that has never happened in Kosovo’s parliamentary life”Podvorica says, stressing that this situation is unforeseen and unclear to the country’s constitution.

Kosovo is preparing for the October 12 local elections. The Central Election Commission has undertaken for the first time for about 44,000 voters registered abroad to send them by mail packages with ballots through which they may exercise the right to vote. The process began on September 17 and lasts until October 11th.

The mail voting service is expected to be held for 43,933 Kosovo citizens, who applied and registered to vote in the elections for mayors and municipal assemblies. The Central Election Commission announced the day before that about 34% of the ballots have been processed so far.
