“For the first time (Iranian leaders) have agreed to discuss some aspects of their nuclear program that they didn’t even want to mention a month or a year ago,” Rubio announced at a Senate hearing. However, it is not certain that it could bring any result, the AP agency recalled the minister’s words.
According to the minister, all negotiations are being slowed down by Iran’s “fragmented” leadership, which is why it always takes several days for them to respond to American proposals, which complicates the peace negotiations, in which Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is increasingly involved.
Rubio also outlined that Iran is negotiating with the US to ease sanctions. “Any mitigation is conditional and must be in exchange for what they were imposed for, which is the nuclear program,” the minister explained, according to the Jerusalem Post portal. “If they commit to abandoning the program, there will be an easing of sanctions related to Iran’s commitment and compliance.”
According to Rubio’s opinion, Iran was planning to build conventional weapons capabilities as a shield behind which it would hide its nuclear program, which was also a reason for Donald Trump to start a war against Iran.
