All political parties registered in Kosovo are obliged to notify the Central Election Commission (CEC) by May 7 if they will participate in the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo.
This legal obligation applies to the 53 currently registered parties, while it does not include entities that intend to compete as citizen initiatives or independent candidates. According to RTK, within the same deadline, the parties must also declare whether they will compete within a coalition.
According to the CEC rules, a coalition can be formed by at least two political parties, while after the certification, no entity can withdraw from the coalition until the final certification of the election results.
Meanwhile, the official election campaign period for the June 7, 2026 elections will last 10 days and 7 hours, starting on May 28 and ending on June 7 at 06:59.
The draw for the ranking of political subjects on the ballot is expected to be held on May 16, 2026, in accordance with the election calendar approved by the CEC. The appointment of the members of the Municipal Election Commissions (MEC) will be completed by May 8, while the list of voting centers will be published on May 5.
The electoral process foresees specific steps for citizens living outside Kosovo, giving them the opportunity to express their will through two forms. Overseas voters must register from May 6 to 17 and postal voting will run from May 25 to June 6.
Physical voting in consulates and embassies will be organized on June 6, from 07:00 to 19:00.
With the approval of this plan, Kosovo officially enters an intense electoral phase. Early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo will be held on June 7, 2026.
