From October 27 to November 8, citizens of Kosovo living abroad can vote by mail for the second round of elections for mayors.
The Central Election Commission announced that only 29,712 citizens who were successfully registered to vote abroad for the first round of local elections held on October 12 have the right to vote.
“The CEC has started the process of voting abroad before the certification of the results to avoid delays in the electoral process and to ensure that every registered citizen has the opportunity to exercise his constitutional right to vote on time”it says in its announcement.
The election administration body sends the citizens of the diaspora through the post a package with ballot papers for the mayor of the municipality, then the voter is obliged to send that package to one of the CEC mailboxes in 22 countries around the world and in Kosovo.
The second round of local elections will take place on November 9 in 18 municipalities, including Pristina. In 20 municipalities, the new mayors and the new composition of the municipal assemblies were elected in the first round of local elections, which was held on October 12.
