In order to increase the influence of Turkish and Turkish literature in the Balkans, the “Balkan Turcology Union” will be established under the leadership of Trakya University (TU).
A panel titled “Turcology in the Balkans: From Past to Future” was held at the Balkan Congress Center, hosted by TU.
Speaking at the program, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, TU Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Hatipler said that Turkish is spoken in many parts of the world.
Stating that Türkiye exists wherever Turkish is spoken, Prof. Dr. Hatipler stated that they want Turkish to exist with great strength in the Balkans again.
Hatipler stated that, as a university, they are doing important work to ensure the existence of Turkish in the Balkans, and added:
“We want the Turkish language to come to life again in the Balkans, to spread branches and branches like a plane tree, and to grow towards the sky. In this sense, I would like to state that our university, especially the Faculty of Letters, is equipped to undertake this mission.
Our Dean Prof. Dr. “I would like to express with pleasure that our academic staff, especially Müberra Gürgendereli, has all the necessary equipment for Turkish to become dominant in the Balkan geography.”
Hatipler stated that the panel organized was an important beginning for the establishment of the Balkan Turcology Union and that, as a result of long studies, Turkish would once again raise poets, writers and novelists in the Balkan geography.
Turkish language connects Balkan societies
Trakya University Faculty of Letters Dean Prof. Dr. Müberra Gürgendereli stated that learning Turcology is a necessity for the Balkan countries.
Stating that there are many Turkish words in the Balkan languages and that Turkish literature is influential in the Balkans, Gürgendereli emphasized that the Turkish language connects the Balkan societies together.
Stating that Turkish has a unifying power in the Balkans, Gürgendereli said, “In today’s panel, we will talk about the future of Turkish and Turkology studies with our guests from the Balkan countries. This meeting, which will provide the basis for the establishment of the Balkan Turcology Union, will take us to the next step, what we will do together.” he said.
