Operation in Zveçan and Zubin Potok – Special Prosecutor’s Office: As part of the investigation into the murder of the EULEX official

The Special Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo has announced that the operation in the north of Kosovo in cooperation with the Police, carried out in the Municipality of Zubin Potok and Zveçan, was part of the investigation into the murder of the EULEX official, AS

The prosecution also announces that the operation was carried out based on the order of the Basic Court in Pristina, while it was supported by the relevant police units.

Investigators from the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes have raided two locations in Zveçan and seven in Zubin Potok, under suspicion of committing criminal offenses: endangering United Nations personnel, serious murder and assault on an official during the performance of duty.

During the operation, seven people were escorted to the Police, who, after being interrogated, were released in a regular procedure.

Material evidence was seized from the raids, including two weapons, ammunition, clothing with nationalist content, binoculars, documents and various electronic devices.

This operation appears to be related to the murder of the Lithuanian customs officer of EULEX, Audrius Šenavičius (with the initials AS), who was shot on September 19, 2013 in the village of Ballaban in Zveçan and died during medical treatment in the hospital.

The case has remained unsolved for more than a decade, with EULEX offering high rewards – most recently €82,000 on the 12th anniversary of the event – for any information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.
