On Facebook, Blanár repeated the Slovak position that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has no military solution. “Slovakia consistently promotes peaceful solutions and we support any peace initiatives,” said the head of Slovak diplomacy.
The statement of the Russian president, who admitted on Thursday that part of the peace talks could take place in Slovakia, was described by Blanár as a positive signal for an end to the war, bloodshed and destruction as soon as possible. “This also just confirms the importance of the recent meeting of the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Robert Fica, in Moscow,” added the Slovak Foreign Minister.
Putin’s statement came after Robert Fico’s trip to Moscow, primarily where the Slovak prime minister went to discuss gas supplies.

Russia has been waging war in Ukraine for almost three years. Other states did not comment on the idea that the peace negotiations, the form of which there is no agreement between the warring parties, should be held in Slovakia.
Distraction
In this context, the leader of the opposition Progressive Slovakia, Michal Šimečka, stated on Facebook that if Fico wants peace, he should first of all have called on Putin to stop the attacks and stop murdering innocent people in Ukraine.
“During the 14 years of his government, Robert Fico was not able to complete a single highway to Košice for the people of Slovakia, he did not build any large terminal hospital for them, he did nothing to improve their economic situation and standard of living. Suddenly he dares to do nothing less than world peace. In fact, it only diverts attention from its failures,” stated Šimečka.
Summit in the village of Očová
Non-affiliated member of the Slovak parliament, nationalist Rudolf Huliak offers the village of Očová, where he is the mayor, to host the peace summit. Očová in the district of Zvolen has 2,500 inhabitants, according to Huliak, it has a strategic location and offers space for organizing safe meetings. Mayor Očová emphasized that he is taking the offer very seriously. “Slovakia now has a chance and can contribute to the end of this senseless conflict,” Huliak is quoted by the topky.sk website.
