The conflict took place in Polerady, which is located northeast of Prague near Kostelec nad Labem. The police went there after 20:30 on Sunday after a report of an “incident between a taxi driver and two customers he was transporting”.
“The conflict resulted in the shooting of one of the customers, who ended up in the care of doctors,” the police said on the X network.
According to the Aktu.cz agency, the injured person was transported to the hospital by helicopter.
“The man who was supposed to use the weapon remained at the scene until the policemen arrived. The policemen secured the firearm from him. The necessary investigations and criminal proceedings are now underway to verify the circumstances of the conflict,” added the policemen.
They promised to provide more information on the case during Monday.
