In the show “3 D” with Alban Dudushin, the analyst Adri Nurellari commented on the decision of the Hague Court for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army and the new initiative of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) to change the law on the Special Court.
According to him, this initiative comes after continuous protests in Kosovo against the judgment announced on September 16 by the Specialized Chambers, where Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi were found guilty of war crimes.
Focusing on this initiative, Nurellari emphasized that it has nothing to do with amnesty or the abolition of the Special Court, but aims to restore the authority of the Assembly over the institution that it created.
“It is not a question of a law seeking to grant amnesty, dissolution of the Special Court or interruption of existing processes, absolutely not. The initiative is an attempt to give the attributes due to the Parliament. After all, Parliament should have the mandate and authority over what it has created. So, to restore sovereignty and restore it to the original mandate on which it was created and the papers were exchanged.”
He added that this institution should not be confused with the Tribunal of the former Yugoslavia, which was established by the UN Security Council, but is a separate project, which has been operating for a long time without sufficient supervision.
“No one should forget that this institution is not the same as the Tribunal of the former Yugoslavia that came from the UN Security Council. This is a project sui generisa pilot project that for a long time has lacked the supervision and accountability of the institution that created it, but also the supervision of the institution that finances it, with the taxpayers of the European Union. With this aspect, a kind of supervision is created, in a clear jurisdiction.”
