Israel announced strikes on Iran, the media reported on explosions in Tehran

Israel proceeded to strike Iran, although US President Donald Trump called on the Israeli government not to respond to Sunday’s attacks.

The Israeli Air Force announced after 3:00 CEST that it was carrying out strikes on military targets in the western and central parts of Iran. Iranian state media reported on explosions in Tehran, Tabriz and Isfahan. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said that the Israeli Air Force used ballistic missiles fired from the air for the strikes.

The Israeli army recorded the firing of a rocket towards Israeli territory from Yemen, where Iran’s allies – the Houthi rebels – operate. An alarm was declared in Tel Aviv and central Israel.

Sunday’s missile strikes from Iran on Israeli territory were the first since the conclusion of the ceasefire on April 6. Tehran justified them with Israeli strikes on Lebanon. Iran claims that the target of the strike was an air base in the north of Israel. The Israeli army then claims that it intercepted the Iranian rockets.

Israel and the United States launched a war against Iran on February 28 this year. The United States is negotiating with Iran on an agreement to extend the ceasefire or a permanent cessation of hostilities. The American president says that the agreement is close.
