Road officials will limit traffic in the section between Nova Vsí and Lovosice, i.e. between the 18th and 48th kilometers. “Traffic on the D8 highway will be maintained in both directions during the repair. However, it will be driven in narrow lanes,” said directorate spokesman Jan Rýdl. The narrowed sections, in which two narrowed lanes in each direction should be preserved, will be shifted according to the currently ongoing works.
The workers should work on the modifications of the central dividing strip and the left lanes of each direction intended for overtaking will be closed. The work for 398 million crowns will last three months, i.e. until the beginning of September.
A new emergency call system will be created in the given section, which will replace the current device. Technologies for management and supervision of operations are also being modernized. “We will replace the guardrails in the middle dividing strip and at the same time the telematics equipment will be restored,” said Eurovia company spokesperson Iveta Štočková, according to whom the modifications should contribute to safer travel on the highway. Crossings in the central dividing strip will also be modified.
The Directorate of Roads and Highways is gradually modernizing the D8 highway. Last year, it commissioned the first extensive repair of the section through the České středohoří. It included the modernization of the Panenská and Libouchec tunnels and the renewal of the road in a total length of 18 kilometers. The costs exceeded 1.2 billion crowns.
