More strong storms will arrive in the evening

On Wednesday, strong storms and rains will hit the same as the previous day, especially in western, northern and central Bohemia. Local thunderstorms will form during the day, and a more significant band should hit Bohemia in the evening and night hours. Precipitation totals can reach up to 30 millimeters.

On the contrary, less precipitation can be expected in southern and eastern Bohemia and also in the Highlands. Moravia and Silesia should be hit by storms especially on Thursday, but according to the latest model results, it seems that many places will remain without precipitation.

The most intense storms and rains occurred on Tuesday in the north and west of Bohemia, which corresponded to the issued warning. In the afternoon, isolated thunderstorms first formed, in the evening and in the first half of the night, a band of thunderstorms passed over the Karlovy Vary region.

The highest precipitation totals are reported by areas in Pilsen and Rokycan. 42 millimeters of rain fell in Rokycany, almost 30 millimeters also rained in Nezvěstice. The storms in these areas were also accompanied by small hail.

Rainfall totals were close to 30 millimeters in the Ore Mountains area as well. Roughly 28 millimeters of rain fell in Mašťov, Šindelová and Lázní Kynžvart. It was in this region that the strongest gusts of wind appeared.

According to the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ), significant precipitation was also recorded in other areas of northern, western and central Bohemia, where it most often rained from one to 15 millimeters. The rain also reached Český Švýcarsk, where firefighters have been fighting a fire for the last few days.
