Postponing the decision on Thaçi and others, Kurti criticizes the court for lack of transparency

“A court that lacks transparency” called the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti the specialized chambers of Kosovo, which two days ago announced the postponement by 60 days of the deadline for the announcement of the decision for former president Hashim Thaci, former parliament speakers Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi and former deputy Rexhep Selimi, who have been in the detention center in The Hague for about six years after being accused of crimes war and crimes against humanity during the last war in Kosovo.

The day when the Kosovo Assembly approved the constitutional amendment that paved the way for the establishment of the court, Kurti called it one of the most difficult days for the country.

“Regarding the decision of the Special Court to be postponed for two months if I am not mistaken, we learned about it like all of you. Because the government of Kosovo does not have access to the dynamics and developments that take place in the Special Court, which is not characterized by transparency for our country which it is said to serve. Once again I emphasize that Kosovo needs a normal court, not a special court. Amendment number 24 of the Constitution on August 3 2015 is one of the worst days of independent Kosovo and of our democratic Republic and all these are now consequences”, he declared.

Regarding the four former high officials of the country and the former members of the KLA, the acting head of the executive expressed full confidence that they were innocent and that they are being held unjustly in The Hague.
