27 years since the massacre in Krushë i Madhe, the 243 victims are commemorated

Krusha e Madhe marks today the 27th anniversary of one of the most tragic events of the war in Kosovo, honoring the memory of the victims killed by Serbian forces, including women, children and the elderly.

On March 25, 26 and 27, 1999, 243 civilians were killed in this village of Rahovec, while hundreds of houses – 893 in total – were burned and destroyed.

The Krusha e Madhe massacre ranks among the worst crimes committed against civilians during the war, part of a broad wave of violence by Serbian military, police and paramilitary forces throughout the territory of Kosovo.

In commemoration of this date, tributes and commemorative activities will be organized, where the participation of citizens and institutional representatives is expected.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Rahovec has planned a series of activities to mark the 27th anniversary of the massacres of 1999, which affected several villages in the area, including Brestocin, Fortesa, Cëlina, Krusha e Madhe, Retina, Opterusha, Pastaseli, Nagaci and Hoca e Vogël.
