The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has given the mandate for the formation of the new Government to the candidate proposed by the Vetëvendosje Movement, Glauk Konjufca.
“The constitution does not say that he can appoint, but he appoints if the first fails. The Constitution does not leave room for the president to not appoint the second candidate when there is a mandate. The language used in the Constitution is mandatory, so it forces the president to appoint the second candidate. I have mandated Glauk Konjufca, another candidate for prime minister, as clearly required and defined by article 95, point 4 of the Constitution, as well as the practice itself of the Constitutional Court”, said the president of Kosovo.
Also, the president of Kosovo announced that she has invited the opposition parties to offer them the possibility of the representative, but that they have declared that they will not propose another name for the representative.
According to the Constitution, the representative has 15 days to present to the Assembly the new composition of the executive, which must receive the support of at least 61 deputies to be elected.
In the February 9 elections, the PDK won 24 seats, the LDK 20, the AAK five, and the Social Democratic Initiative, which competed in the elections on a joint list with the AAK, has three deputies.
