The United States sent Iran a draft peace plan last week, to which Tehran responded over the weekend. Trump said that he did not like this answer and that it was “absolutely unacceptable”.
On Monday, the head of the White House let it be known that he had not even read the Iranian proposal and that the ceasefire is now in a very fragile state.
“After reading the garbage they sent us, I would call it (the cease-fire) the weakest yet,” AP quoted Trump as saying. “I didn’t even read it (the response to the truce),” he added, adding that he subsequently referred to the truce with the medical term as a truce “on devices”.
According to an earlier report by the agency, Iran seeks to end the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, where Israel is fighting against the Tehran-backed terrorist movement Hezbollah. At the same time, Iran wishes to ensure the safety of shipping. According to the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel, Tehran wishes to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.
