He had already criticized Germany earlier, because of its reluctance to get involved in the American-Israeli war against Iran. Because of this, he criticized the entire European NATO.
The war against Iran is in a truce phase, which will continue for an unspecified period of time. This week, Merz commented on the negotiations.
“The Iranians are obviously very good at negotiating, or rather, they are very good at not negotiating. They let the Americans travel to Islamabad and then leave without any results. The Iranian leadership is humiliating the entire nation, especially the so-called Revolutionary Guards, so I hope it ends as quickly as possible,” Merz said this week.
