This Friday, at 5:00 p.m., “Skënderbej” square will become the center of calls for justice for the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, who continue to be held in custody in The Hague. The organization aims to seek justice for the main figures of the fight for the freedom of Kosovo.
“We, as organizers of War Veterans, have organized several buses to bring veterans from Kosovo to Albania. So far we have confirmed about 70 buses, but we have many other confirmations that will come with cars. Many people will also come from North Macedonia, as well as from the Presheva Valley, but also from the Albanians of Montenegro. Also from the diaspora, where there will be a very large number of those who have confirmed that they will be participants. From 10:00 a.m. there will be a departure by bus organized by each city. The protest will start at 17:00. After the speeches are over, we will disperse quietly. The protest will be peaceful” – said Gazmend Syla, Organization of KLA War Veterans.
Syla emphasized that for this organization they also had the support of Albanian institutions.
“Tirana is the cornerstone of the Kosovo Liberation Army and everything started from Tirana, our comrades did their first training here. Therefore, the idea was to have a protest here as well, and I believe that this will be the largest ever organized. Without the help of the institutions of the Albanian state, this protest would not be able to work.”
To support the protest, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has announced that Rruga e Kombit will be free of charge for 24 hours this Friday.
The former leaders of the KLA, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are in detention in The Hague and the judicial process is ongoing against them.
They are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, charges that all four have denied.
