The Organization of Veterans of the War of the Liberation Army of Kosovo (OVL-UÇK) has reacted after the statement made by the Vetëvendosje Movement, stating that this political force is trying to dilute the purpose of the protest that will be held on Friday (October 17) in Tirana in support of the UÇK.
According to a reaction made on the Facebook social network, OVL-UÇK, emphasizes that the protest that will be held in “Skënderbej” square is the voice of the Albanian people, of the veterans and the families of the martyrs, while making it clear that there is no political force that can stop or appropriate this voice.
“The statement of the Vetëvendosje Movement, issued late last night, clearly shows that this party is trying to politicize and dilute the purpose of the big protest that will be held in Tirana on October 17. This protest does not belong to any political party – it is the voice of the Albanian people, the voice of the veterans, the families of the martyrs and all those who disagree with the injustice being done to the leaders of the KLA in The Hague. There is no political force that can stop or adopt this voice”. said in response.
Furthermore, OVL-UÇK emphasizes that it will not allow the holy war of the Kosovo Liberation Army to be used for party interests.
According to the reaction of this organization, the protest demands justice for the fighters of Kosovo and punishment for the crimes committed by Serbia.
“The protest in Tirana is a protest of the nation, not of the parties. There will be thousands of Albanians from all over the world, to show that the KLA is the honor of the nation and there is no court that can tarnish it. At the same time, OVL UÇK expresses sincere thanks to the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, who has been a clear voice and supporter of this just cause, as well as for the Albanian institutions that have given full support for the progress and organization of the protest in Tirana”. it is further stated in the reaction.
In a post on social networks, the Vetëvendosje Movement stated that it stood by the citizens protesting to demand justice for the former leaders of the KLA. However, he emphasized that the Albanian institutions should be committed to address this issue in the international instances where Albania is a part.
The protest in support of the KLA will take place tomorrow at 17:00, in the “Skënderbej” square in Tirana, where important political figures will participate, such as the former president Alfred Moisiu and the chairman of the DUI, Ali Ahmeti. Support will also come from university rectors, “Red and Black” fans, as well as from many citizens and associations in Kosovo and Albania.
The purpose of the protest is to express solidarity with the former leaders of the KLA who are facing international justice, and to oppose what they consider injustice in the judicial processes in The Hague.
