The Slovak ruling party Hlas expelled two deputies, the coalition apparently lost its majority in the lower house

The Hlas party reported on Facebook that the expulsion took place at the party’s working congress on Friday at the suggestion of the present members of the congress. “The proposal was created on the basis of information from the party leadership about the demands that the appointed deputies raised at the meeting with the chairman and vice-chairman of Hlas on Tuesday,” said Hlas.

Deputies Migaľ and Šalitroš should have their own personnel requirements for four key positions – Minister of the Interior (it is currently held by the chairman of the party Hlas Matúš Šutaj Eštok – note. red.), deputy speaker of the parliament, director of military intelligence and deputy chairman of the Hlas party. “Because the appointed MPs did not have any values that they declare in their media appearances, nor did they present any such demands, and the only thing they demanded were political positions, it is incompatible with Hlas membership,” the ruling party said in its statement.

In the statement, the Hlas party did not mention the other two rebel MPs, Ján Ferenčák and Roman Malatinac, who belonged to the group around MP Migaľ.

The government coalition Smér, Hlas and the Slovak National Party (SNS) has 79 deputies in the 150-member parliament, but three SNS deputies around Rudolf Huliak and four rebel deputies of Hlas do not always vote with the coalition.
