The international airport in Florida will be renamed after Trump

“Palm Beach International Airport is now officially… ‘President Donald J. Trump International Airport!'” wrote the president’s son Eric Trump on the X Network. “I’m proud to have played a small role in that,” he added.

DeSantis signed the law in private on Monday, although the governor sometimes holds public events to mark the signing of laws, he wrote to the New York Times (NYT), saying that according to his spokesman, the public event will be held at a later date. Naming the airport after Trump was approved by Florida legislators a month earlier.

In response to the announced new name of the airport, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Monday that it still had to complete “some administrative tasks, including updating navigation maps and databases.” However, the name of the airport itself will not be decided anymore, according to the declaration of the authorities, that is fully within the competence of local governments.

According to the NYT, the Trump Organization has already registered trademarks related to the name of the airport and several derived acronyms, words and phrases. The company claims that this is to prevent misuse of the brand. “It was unclear whether the Trump Organization would eventually sell Trump-branded luggage or other merchandise on its website itself,” the NYT wrote.

Will it also reach the airport in Washington and the train station in New York?

Trump’s name was already attached to the name of the Kennedy Cultural Center in Washington last year, and last week it was decided that Trump’s signature would be – contrary to custom – also on US dollars.

In February this year, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said that representatives of the Trump administration wanted him to agree to name a train station in New York and an international airport in Washington after Trump in exchange for unblocking funding for the construction of a rail tunnel under the Hudson River.
