Kosovo’s budget for 2026 will be 4 billion euros, announced the acting prime minister, Albin Kurti. At the government meeting, he announced that the 13th salary will be distributed to all public sector workers at the end of the year.
“This budget will also have many innovations. First, it is a budget worth 4 billion euros where ¼ or about 1 billion are budgeted for capital investments. One innovation will be the granting of the 13th salary to public sector employees. The implementation of the increase in the basic salary is also included. This budget also includes the increase in pensions, the increase in child allowances, maternity allowances and payments for young people and women who are engaged by Superpuna, the completion of social assistance reforms”Kurt said.
He announced that from November of this year, pensions will increase from 120 to 150 euros, as well as child allowances will increase by 50 percent.
“In addition to the salary increase in the public sector, we also have good news for the private sector. From the Ministry of Finance, we have a proposal to increase the minimum wage, an increase that will affect 150,000 employees. As I promised, today there is good news for pensioners as well. The minimum pension from 120 euros will become 150 euros starting from November, which starts tomorrow. This increase affects about 200,000 pensioners, pension categories basic, disabled, children, as well as the invalidity pension. As you know, I have also promised good news for mothers who receive child allowances. From November, allowances for all children aged 0-16 will increase by 50 percent.”Kurt said.
Kurti said that, despite being in the government in office, they have a legal obligation to approve the budget for 2026. He called on the members of the Assembly to approve this budget without going to new elections, even though he has failed to form the new government.
