The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission in Kosovo, Valmir Elezi, has announced that on June 6, voting centers will be opened in 30 diplomatic missions of the state of Kosovo, to enable the participation of the diaspora in the parliamentary elections in Kosovo.
According to him, in this process, more than 27,724 Kosovo citizens registered for voting abroad will be able to vote.
Elezi clarified that the voting will take place in 17 embassies and 13 consulates distributed in 18 different countries, starting according to time zones from Turkey and then in European countries, while the last one will end in the United States and Canada.
According to the CEC, it was initially planned that voting would be organized in 48 diplomatic missions, but the number has been reduced to 30, since in 18 of them the number of registered voters was below 50.
“When the number of registered voters is below 50, physical voting is not organized and they automatically switch to voting by mail”, explained Valmir Elezi.
He added that voters in these cases have been notified by the CEC and have the right to vote by mail, a process that started on May 21 and ends on June 6.
In total, about 105,000 citizens are registered to vote by mail, while physical voting at the diplomatic representation takes place one day before the elections in Kosovo, on June 6.
