The election of Nenad Rashiqi as the vice-president of the Assembly of Kosovo, the Serbian List appeals to the Constitutional Court

The election of Nenad Rashiqi as the vice-president of the Assembly of Kosovo has again prompted the reaction of the Serbian List. The latter filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court of Kosovo regarding the election of Rashić, claiming that the Constitution, the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly, as well as a previous judgment of the Constitutional Court were violated.

In its appeal, Lista Serbe requests the establishment of a temporary measure, in order to stop the actions it considers unconstitutional.

Nenad Rashiqi was elected with 71 votes in favor, 9 against, and 24 abstentions as the vice president of the Assembly of Kosovo, thus resolving the institutional impasse that had lasted for 8 months.

His election was made after the nine deputies of the Serbian List, although they were voted three times, did not receive the necessary votes.

Rasić was the only candidate left in the race, since in the previous elections none of the nine candidates of the Serbian List managed to get the necessary support from the deputies. Candidates who did not pass the vote include MPs Igor Simić, Srdjan Popović, Stefan Kovačević, Branislav Nikolic, Miljana Nikolic, Verica Čeranić, Ljiljana Stefanović, Zlatan Elek and Slavko Simić.

Rashiqi was not nominated by Lista Serbe, which has constantly opposed his representation as part of the Serbian community in institutions. However, in the absence of another candidate accepted by the Assembly, he was included in the vote and was elected.
