Following the full publication of the decision of the Constitutional Court, the Assembly of Kosovo meets on Friday to continue with the constitutive session.
The official website of this institution is announced that there will be only one point on the agenda, the election of the Vice President of the Assembly from the ranks of the Serb community. With the election of the fifth vice president, the Kosovo legislative body will be considered constituted.
According to its decision, the voting on the package for vice presidents is not mandatory, but can be realized between parliamentary groups. In this way, the court says the election of Emilja Rexhepi, vice president from the Bosnian community, is in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo.
The Serbian List, the largest party of Kosovo Serbs, which also has Belgrade’s support, complained to the constitution exactly about this point of the procedure, claiming that the voting separately of the two minority vice presidents was a violation.
The Kosovo Assembly has elected the chairman, three Albanian vice presidents and the vice president from the non -Serb minority, but failed to elect it from the Serbian minority.
From October 8 MPs have 12 days to elect the Serbian vice president and to finally make the new assembly operational. However, the Constitutional Court has not even clarified in the September 30 decision what will happen if the Serbian vice president is not elected and if the Assembly is not constituted within the 12-day deadline.
