Skiing in Poland: 10 best resorts

Polish resorts are often easily accessible from the Czech Republic and offer a wide range of pistes and services for all ski levels. Families with children will also enjoy themselves thanks to the learning zones or the thermal baths right next to the slopes. Check out the ten best Polish ski resorts.

1. Szczyrk Mountain Resort

From Ostrava, you are in one of the largest ski resorts in Poland in less than an hour and a half by car. The ski area here stretches between the town of Szczyrk and the associated villages of Czyrna, Solisko and Salmopol. The slopes here lead from three mountain peaks, which are between 1000-1257 meters above sea level. Their difficulty is varied, so both beginners and advanced skiers will find something to suit them.

The heart of the resort is the Szczyrk Gondola cable car, which has a separate zone for beginners with two moving belts and one short plate telescopic lift (poma).

2. Białka Tatrzańska

If you want to discover the Polish Tatras, go to the village of Białka Tatrzańska. The Kotelnica, Bania and Kaniówka resorts are waiting for you here, which together form one interconnected ski area. High altitudes as in the nearby areas around the resort But don’t look for Zakopane here.

The pistes here do not reach more than a thousand meters above sea level. It’s more about relaxing skiing here. The vast majority of the more than 20 kilometers of pistes have a blue marking, i.e. the lowest level of difficulty, which is ideal for families with children. Those who, in addition to sporting activities, are looking for pleasant relaxation should go here. The thermal baths and water park Terma Bania are located right next to the slopes.

3. Greenery

The Zieleniec Ski Resort is very accessible, especially for East Bohemia, but you can also get here from Prague in less than two and a half hours. It is nestled between the peaks of the Orlické and Bystřické mountains and lies at an altitude of 800-960 meters. There are 31 ski lifts and 48 slopes of varying difficulty that connect to the Šerlich border mountain.

Some of the tracks on Zielenc are quite steep, but advanced skiers might find it annoying that they are, without exception, very short. The elevation of none of them reaches even 300 meters. However, this feature could be appreciated by beginners and families with children. The area is also equipped with four educational lifts.

4. Szymoszkowa

Do you like to enjoy beautiful mountain views? Then one of the campuses in Zakopane, namely the one called Szymoszkowa, will be an ideal choice for you. There are two cable cars available for skiers and snowboarders. The first leads to the top of Gubałówka and offers two slopes with an average slope of 20 percent for advanced skiers. The second ends in the middle of the slope and is thus a variant for beginners. Of course, there is also a zone for children with a moving belt and a ski school.

Those who would soon get tired of just 4 kilometers of slopes can use the same ski pass to go to the equally large Harenda area in Zakopane or to the neighboring Poronin and the Suche slopes.

5. Szrenica Ski Arena

Szrenica is a mountain located on the Polish side of the Giant Mountains, only about 200 meters from the Czech border. Many visitors to our highest mountain range remember the silhouette of the hut on its top, but few people know the ski area there. It is accessible from the town of Sklářská Poruba and offers three chair lifts, four anchors and a children’s lift.

The area has 12 km of trails, which can be covered with artificial snow if necessary. The longest track, which bears the name Lolobrygida, is over four kilometers long. The total transport capacity of all cable cars and lifts is about 10,000 people per hour.

6. Casino Ski

You can find a small but pleasant ski area in the village of Justyny ​​Kowalczyk, not far from Krakow. A modern six-seater cable car takes skiers to the top of the Śnieżnice mountain, from where it offers the longest blue slope (1450 m) and two shorter connecting slopes marked in red and black. Thanks to the adjacent trees, they are protected from the wind and you can ride here even on cold days.

Visitors here especially appreciate the well-maintained slopes, beautiful views of the Tatras and the high-quality ski school, which is an advantage for families with children. For complete beginners, there is also a moving belt and a separate training zone.

7. Karpacz Ski Arena

Just below Sněžka on the Polish side you will find the town of Karpacz, where you can enjoy skiing at higher altitudes with a decent elevation gain of over 520 meters. There are two chairlifts, two anchors and two poms on the slopes of Mount Kopa. The area also offers a variety of services, including ski or snowboard equipment rentals, a ski school and refreshments.

8. Słotwiny Arena

In the summer it is a bicycle park with modified routes, in the winter a smaller center for winter sports. Słotwiny Arena is a bit more out of hand, it is located in the Sadecké Beskydy, but it can please anyone anywhere. For example, snowboarding lovers. For the upcoming season, there will be a new snow park here, which will consist of three jumps – two ten-meter jumps and one fourteen-meter jump – as well as a section for slopestyle with jib obstacles.

For snowboarders and skiers, there are two six-seater chairlifts and almost 10 km of groomed slopes. Only the elevation here is really small, it is only about 160 meters.

9. Pilsko-Jontek complex

Ski area Kompleks Pilsko-Jontek is located a little closer to the Czech eastern border. You can find it in the Živecké Beskydy and offers ideal conditions for skiers and snowboarders in the winter season thanks to a varied selection of pistes with a total length of 12 kilometers.

The routes will please advanced skiers more, because most of them are red. The elevation here is also higher than in most of the mentioned resorts. The slopes here extend from 698 meters above sea level to 1402 meters above sea level. Three chairlifts, two anchors and two poms will take you to them.

10. Master-Ski

The last resort is the farthest from the Czech Republic, but the cheapest ski passes are here. The Master-Ski ski area is located in Tylice, not far from the well-known spa town of Krynica-Zdrój. In the area you will find a total of 9.5 km of pistes, which are wide enough and suitable mainly for beginners and intermediate skiers.

This resort is especially ideal for families with children, even the smallest ones. There is, for example, a winter playground and an area for sledding or a so-called “fun park”, where little skiers can enjoy driving through the tunnels. In short, even snowboarders won’t come here, for which there is a small snow park.
