On Monday, the Presidency of the Assembly of Kosovo, PDK and LDK refuse participation: Unconstitutional meeting

Although on Saturday declared the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo even without being elected vice president from the Serbian community, Parliament Speaker Dimal Basha has called for the holding of the Presidency on Monday after noon.

Consultative meeting on how the Assembly of Kosovo will continue its work”Reads the agenda point according to the announcement sent to the press office.

The announcement states that the meeting was summoned to the four elected vice presidents of Parliament. The new presidency currently consists of President Dimal Basha and vice presidents Albulena Haxhiu, Vlora Citaku, Kujtim Shala and Emilja Rexhepi.

But the parties that were in opposition, the PDK and the LDK, said they would not attend Monday’s meeting, as the Assembly was not constituted.

According to them, the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly were violated, which states that the constituent session is considered completed by the election of the President and Vice -Presidents of the Assembly.

PDK considers the invitation to meet the Presidency of the Assembly that has not been constituted and does not attend such meetings, which serve only party agendas and not the state’s interest,”Reads the PDK announcement.

Whereas, the LDK chairman, Lumir Abdixhiku, said that Basha has mistakenly concluded that the session has been constituted, as the Constitution clearly states that it is considered only after all vice presidents have been elected.

We do not participate in such dementia,“He said.

Speaker Basha said the ninth legislature of the country’s legislative body is considered constituted, as members of the largest Kosovo Serbs party, the Serbian List, nor the leader of the Party for Freedom, Justice and Survival, did not manage to obtain the necessary votes in the third rounds of voting.
