“Unfortunately, Bosnia and Herzegovina was hit by devastating floods last week. The Czech Republic has proposed material and rescue aid and is donating one million crowns to Bosnia and Herzegovina for immediate damage repair,” said Lipavský before the flight.
He also reminded that the Czechs are already helping in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the non-governmental organization People in Need, which Czech diplomacy has been financially supporting for a long time. “We changed the focus of the existing humanitarian project there and reserved money for repairing the damage,” said Lipavský.
From Sarajevo, the foreign minister will move to Belgrade, Serbia, on Thursday. Shortly after his arrival, he will attend the opening of the Days of Czech and Slovak Film, which will take place at the Yugoslav Cinematheque.
On Friday morning, the head of Czech diplomacy will meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and subsequently with his counterpart Marko Durič.
“Of course, I am going to Sarajevo and Belgrade to discuss our mutual relations. The expansion of the European Union will also be a key topic,” he concluded, stating that both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia are candidate countries that have been applying for inclusion in the European Union for many years. In addition to EU integration, Lipavský will also discuss, for example, trade relations in both countries.
