After a marathon of consultations with the political spectrum in the country, the acting president of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, has officially decreed the date of June 7 for the holding of early parliamentary elections. This decision comes as a coordination between the constitutional deadlines and the technical needs of the CEC.
In her statement to the media, Haxhiu emphasized that the selection of this date aims to guarantee an orderly and comprehensive process.
“After assessing the constitutional deadlines, the organizational needs of the CEC and the importance of the widest possible participation of citizens, I have decided that the early elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo will be held on June 7,” declared the acting president.
The political consensus, the parties say they are ready
The meeting held in the Presidency proved a broad agreement between the main political forces (PDK, LDK and AAK), which expressed their willingness to be measured in the electoral process.
The chairman of PDK, Bedri Hamza, confirmed that his party is prepared for any date within the deadlines, warning “innovations and new figures” on their lists.
Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu of the LDK pointed out that June 7 was also a request of the CEC, while revealing the party’s vision for strengthening international alliances and development projects.
Ardian Gjini of AAK described the process as a chance for the country’s stability, confirming that he is his party’s nominee for the post of prime minister.
The decision follows yesterday’s meeting with the head of the CEC, Kreshnik Radoniqi, who suggested June as the most favorable option for fulfilling all logistical and administrative obligations.
