The Assembly of Kosovo approved this Thursday several important international agreements worth millions of euros, after a period of blocking parliamentary work. This development comes after the suspension of activity during the month of March, due to a decision of the Constitutional Court that overturned the decree of President Vjosa Osmani on the dissolution of the Assembly.
After the return to function, the deputies gave the green light to some agreements that require the votes of two-thirds of the parliament. The vote was supported by the majority and part of the opposition, while the deputies of the Democratic Party of Kosovo left the hall in protest of the agenda.
The agreement with the European Investment Bank for the solar energy project in KEK, worth 33 million euros, was also in focus. This project aims to build one of the largest photovoltaic power plants in the country, with a capacity of up to 100 megawatts.
According to the financial institution, this investment will increase the production of renewable energy and reduce dependence on coal, strengthening energy security. At the same time, it is expected that the plant will produce about 169 gigawatt hours of energy per year and significantly reduce pollution.
Meanwhile, EBRD representatives have warned that any delay in ratification may lead to a delay in the implementation of projects. However, the Assembly failed to approve four other agreements, due to the lack of votes and clashes between political parties.
