Kosovo, Minister Liburn Aliu announces his resignation after the election of Parliament Parliament Basha

Kosovo’s Environment Minister Liburn Aliu announced on Wednesday that he resigned from government duty due to the election of Dimal Basha as the President of the Assembly.

I would like to let you know that I just submitted it to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Albin Kurti, the letter of my resignation from the post of minister to the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. My resignation comes after yesterday’s election of the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. Yesterday, after voting on the Speaker of Parliament, I informed Prime Minister Kurti of my decision,“Ali announced through the Facebook network.

The minister said that yesterday’s election of the Parliament Speaker is not in the spirit of the ideal “that has been and remains a reason for me”.

I consider that yesterday’s election of the Speaker of Parliament, the highest institution, where the laws are established and the government is accountable, is not in the spirit and at the height of that ideal for the Republic that has been and remains a reason for me,“Wrote Ali.

After many months of effort, the Kosovo Assembly already has the new chairman. Dimal Basha will exercise this position thanks to the 73 votes of the MPs of the Vetevendosje Movement. The LVV highly praised its candidacy, while the opposition PDK raised the dilemma if Basha is worthy of serving in this position.

But the Assembly has again failed to be fully constituted, blocked by the election of the vice president by the Serbian community. The Serbian List with nine MPs proposed on Tuesday the name of Slavko Sim’s vice president and insisted on his candidacy, but for three times in a row, Simic did not receive the necessary votes.

Speaker Basha, finding that the Serbian List did not want to propose a second name to Vice President of the Assembly, decided that the proposal from this entity should be passed through.

Four candidates for voting came out of the lot (Vera Ceranic, Stefan Kovacevic, and Nenad Rasic, along with Liljana Stefanovic who refused to be voted for vice presidents), three of them were voted, but no votes to take the position of Vice President, which led to the postponement of Thursday.
