KFOR: Discluded in Kosovo the second Hungarian company of the reserve battalion

The second Hungarian Company of the Kinetic Tactical Battalion (KTRBN), in the framework of the NATO -led peacekeeping mission, KFOR, has successfully completed its deployment in Kosovo.

According to the official KFOR announcement, this dislocation reinforces the mission’s operational capacities, ensuring high readiness and rapid response skills to any significant security development in the region.

Kinetic reserve battalion (KTRBN) plays an important role in KFOR operations. The Hungarian unit is specialized in a variety of operational tasks, including the control of crowds and riots (CRC), to guarantee order and safety in tense situations; accompanying columns, providing safe protection and movement for staff and equipment; supervision and detection, to monitor the security situation and to gather important information; Assistance to the local population, providing humanitarian support and strengthening cooperation with communities and other infantry tasks, including various military operations to support mission objectives.

These skills make KTRBN a key component to guarantee stability and security in Kosovo, strengthening KFOR’s capacity to respond effectively to possible challenges.

Hungary has been an important contributor to the KFOR mission since its inception in 1999, after the end of the conflict in Kosovo. The Hungarian contingent has played a continuous role in supporting peace and stability in the region, offering trained and well -equipped troops to meet the mission objectives.

The KFOR announcement points out that this dislocation marks the 33rd rotation of the Hungarian contingent, underlining Hungary’s sustainable and long-term commitment to the peacekeeping mission. “This rotation is a tangible evidence of Hungary’s commitment to support KFOR and contribute to Kosovo’s security and stability,” KFOR’s statement reads.

The KFOR mission, established on the basis of Resolution 1244 of the UN Security Council, aims to ensure a safe and sustainable environment in Kosovo, as well as to support the freedom of movement for all communities.
