More than 500 Kosovo Liberation Army veterans and citizens from Kosovo set off on Friday by bus to travel to the Netherlands, where together with citizens from Albania as well as various countries around the world, they will hold a mass protest near the Special Court building, as the Specialist Chambers of Hague are known, where former Kads are tried: Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.
“Our phones in the organizational council groups do not cease for a moment. I can’t give figures, but the interest is great and I believe it will be a grand protest. We have called on all the Albanian people, all the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, all political parties, without coloring, because this is a popular protest in defense of Kosovo’s statehood, of our just war and the KLA leaders in The Hague,“Fatmir Koci, president of the Veterans Association in Europe, told KosovaPress.
Former President Thaçi, former Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli and Jakup Krasniqi, as well as former MP Rexhep Selimi are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity during the recent war in Kosovo, charges that all four KLAs have dismissed.
The trial against them began in April 2023, while being in custody since November 2020. On September 15, their lawyers are expected to begin appearance of evidence and witnesses.
