Iran and its allies hit 18 bases with American soldiers in seven countries, according to the NYT

The NYT originally wanted to verify Iranian state media’s claims about the impact of Iranian retaliation on American bases in the region.

During the war, which began on February 28, these media’s social media accounts posted satellite images of damage to American bases. In the end, the newspaper managed to verify dozens of pictures. “And we found out that none of them were forgeries,” the American newspaper reports.

Based on this information, the newspaper calculated that Iran and its allies hit at least 18 bases in seven different countries. “We discovered that, in addition to large bases in the region, areas where the United States has a small or temporary (military) presence were also hit,” the newspaper pointed out.

The damage caused apparently reached billions of dollars; just replacing one destroyed radar system in Jordan costs roughly half a billion dollars. In addition, these strikes killed seven American soldiers – six in Kuwait and one in Saudi Arabia.

“Most experts we spoke to said that the strikes on these military facilities did not undermine the offensive capabilities of the United States against Iran,” the newspaper reported.

Iranian retaliation also killed two dozen people, mainly civilians, in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Missiles and drones hit energy or civilian facilities.

Iran also retaliated against Israel, where another two dozen people died, according to information from the Reuters agency. According to the Iranian authorities in the country, American and Israeli strikes killed over 3,000 people, including high-ranking representatives of the regime.
