The Bulgarian partner Green Balkans Association is also participating in the efforts carried out in Edirne and Kırklareli. The imperial eagle is a resident species in Turkey and can be seen in the northern regions of Thrace, Bolu and Ankara.

In Thrace, monitoring and protection efforts are being carried out for the imperial eagle, which is in danger of extinction.
According to the statement made by the Return to Nature Association, the “BESTbelt” Project, which supports the sustainable use, protection and restoration of natural resources, was prepared within the scope of the European Green Belt studies supported by the European Union.
The project aims to monitor imperial eagles for 2 years, build nests, plant trees to increase future nest options, and install transmitters.
Within the scope of the project, protection and monitoring work was carried out in Edirne and Kırklareli.
Members of the Green Balkans Association, the Bulgarian partner of the project, also participated in the observation studies.
Imperial Eagle
The imperial eagle, a globally endangered species native to Turkey, is one of the largest eagles with its wide wingspan and large body.
The species, whose most intensive breeding areas are Thrace and the northern regions of Bolu and Ankara, can be seen in open areas, agricultural lands and steppe plains.
